      Summary: eo-mcp is free, open-source software licensed under Apache 2.0. You are welcome to use it in research, personal projects, and commercial products. By using the software or website, you acknowledge that satellite analytics and AI outputs are estimates for informational purposes and must not be used for life-critical or emergency disaster applications without ground truth verification.
    

01 Agreement to Terms

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the eo-mcp open-source repository, documentation website (eo-mcp.github.io), and associated packages. By installing, configuring, running, or accessing eo-mcp, you agree to comply with and be bound by these Terms.

02 Open Source Software License (Apache 2.0)

All software code in the eo-mcp project is made available under the terms of the Apache License, Version 2.0. You may obtain a copy of the License at:

Under this license, you are granted a perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, modify, display, perform, sublicense, and distribute the work, subject to the conditions outlined in the Apache 2.0 license text (including retention of copyright notices and disclaimers).

03 Scientific & Geospatial Data Disclaimer

eo-mcp enables automated queries to third-party public satellite archives (including Copernicus Sentinel-1/2, USGS/NASA Landsat 8/9, and Copernicus DEM GLO-30) and performs dynamic band math (e.g. NDVI, NDWI, NBR) and SAR backscatter thresholding.

CRITICAL NOTICE: EARTH OBSERVATION DATA, MODEL INFERENCES, AND SATELLITE DERIVATIVES PROVIDED THROUGH THIS PROTOCOL ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" FOR RESEARCH, EXPLORATION, AND GENERAL ANALYTIC USE ONLY. SATELLITE MEASUREMENTS ARE SUBJECT TO ATMOSPHERIC INTERFERENCE, SENSOR DEGRADATION, ORBITAL DELAYS, CALIBRATION DRIFT, AND RESOLUTION LIMITS.

THE DATA AND DERIVED PRODUCTS MUST NEVER BE SOLELY RELIED UPON FOR LIFE-CRITICAL EMERGENCY OPERATIONS, FLOOD EVACUATION PLANS, WILDFIRE RESCUE MANAGEMENT, STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY ASSESSMENTS, OR OFFICIAL NAVIGATION. INDEPENDENT GROUND TRUTH AND VERIFIED CERTIFIED OFFICIAL SOURCES ARE REQUIRED FOR ANY REGULATORY OR LIFE-SAFETY DECISIONS.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, THE PROJECT, SOFTWARE, DOCUMENTATION, AND DATA ACCESS ARE PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS, WITHOUT WARRANTIES OR CONDITIONS OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, ANY WARRANTIES OR CONDITIONS OF TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, MERCHANTABILITY, OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE.

05 Upstream Public Services & Acceptable Fair Use

eo-mcp bridges local clients to free public endpoints maintained by external providers (such as AWS Earth Search, Element 84, Copernicus CDSE, NASA CMR, and OpenStreetMap). When utilizing eo-mcp, you agree to:

Respect rate limits and fair-usage policies established by upstream STAC endpoints and Nominatim geocoding services.
Avoid high-frequency automated scraping loops that degrade public infrastructure intended for the global scientific community.
Comply with the respective data terms of the European Space Agency (ESA), USGS, and NASA when utilizing distributed satellite granules.

We do not guarantee the continuous availability, low latency, or accuracy of any third-party STAC catalog or Cloud Optimized GeoTIFF (COG) storage bucket.

06 Limitation of Liability

IN NO EVENT AND UNDER NO LEGAL THEORY, WHETHER IN TORT (INCLUDING NEGLIGENCE), CONTRACT, OR OTHERWISE, SHALL THE AUTHORS, MAINTAINERS, CONTRIBUTORS, OR AFFILIATED ENTITIES BE LIABLE TO YOU FOR DAMAGES, INCLUDING ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, SPECIAL, INCIDENTAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES OF ANY CHARACTER ARISING AS A RESULT OF THESE TERMS OR OUT OF THE USE OR INABILITY TO USE THE SOFTWARE (INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF GOODWILL, WORK STOPPAGE, COMPUTER FAILURE OR MALFUNCTION, SATELLITE DATA INACCURACY, OR ANY AND ALL OTHER COMMERCIAL DAMAGES OR LOSSES), EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

"Sentinel", "Copernicus", "Landsat", "NASA", "ESA", "Claude", "Cursor", "Codex", and other third-party names and trademarks mentioned on this website or in the documentation belong to their respective owners. Their mention does not imply endorsement, affiliation, or sponsorship of eo-mcp.

We reserve the right to update or revise these Terms at any time by posting the updated terms on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the project following the posting of any changes constitutes acceptance of those changes.
